Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist OR plays a pivotal role in the operating room by ensuring a sterile, safe environment and assisting with various surgical procedures. This position involves preparation and maintenance of surgical instruments and supplies, upholding the highest standards of sterilization and safety protocols. The Surgical Technologist works collaboratively with healthcare teams to deliver optimal patient care in the operating room setting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all surgical instruments and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
- Assist in patient positioning and gather all necessary materials before surgery.
- Maintain sterile techniques throughout surgical procedures.
- Label and assess instruments and supplies according to established protocols.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate efficient surgical operations.
- Monitor the surgical environment and implement safety processes to protect patients.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of sterilization techniques and safety practices in the surgical setting.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work as part of a surgical team.
- Experience in a healthcare environment, particularly in surgery, is an advantage.
