Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room (OR) plays a critical role in supporting surgical procedures. This position involves assisting surgical teams by preparing the operating room, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients throughout their surgical experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room prior to surgery, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are sterile and available.
- Assist surgeons and surgical teams during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating needs.
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
- Participate in the cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments post-procedure.
- Support patient safety through diligent monitoring of the surgical environment and equipment.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization techniques, and operating room protocols.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to make quick decisions and adapt to changing conditions in the OR.
- Understanding of medical conditions and genetic factors related to surgical procedures.
