Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist – OR plays a vital role in the surgical team by facilitating efficient surgical procedures. This position involves preparing operating rooms, ensuring the sterility of instruments, and providing assistance to surgeons and other healthcare professionals during operations. The technologist’s primary focus is on maintaining patient safety and upholding high standards of care within the surgical environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for surgery, including arranging surgical instruments and equipment.
- Ensure that all tools and surgical materials are properly sterilized and functioning before procedures.
- Assist surgeons and surgical staff during operations by providing necessary instruments and supplies.
- Maintain a sterile environment to ensure patient safety throughout surgical procedures.
- Support the overall surgical team in delivering effective patient care.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is preferred or required based on facility standards.
- Strong understanding of surgical procedures and protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with medical staff.
