Tax Preparation Specialist

Sheffield, OH Tax Preparation Specialist Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Tax Preparation Specialist to join our team for the upcoming tax season. This role is client-facing and requires strong interpersonal skills, accuracy, and a solid understanding of federal, state, and local tax filings. The ideal candidate is comfortable meeting with multiple clients daily and working efficiently in a fast-paced seasonal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file individual federal and state tax returns (1040 forms) efficiently and accurately
- Manage a high volume of tax appointments, typically meeting with up to 8 clients per day
- Meet face-to-face with clients to gather required documentation, address questions, and explain tax situations
- Prepare and file city and local tax returns, including RITA, ensuring compliance with local regulations
- Utilize Drake Tax Software to process tax filings (training available if needed)
- Maintain detailed, accurate records and documentation for all tax filings
- Review of financial and tax documents for completeness and accuracy
- Stay current on federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain professionalism in all client interactions
- Support the team during peak tax season with flexibility and reliability
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive client information
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience preparing individual tax returns (1040s)
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local city tax regulations, including RITA (highly desirable)
- Experience with Drake Tax Software preferred (training available)
- Proven ability to manage a high-volume workload with accuracy and efficiency
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work onsite in Sheffield, Ohio for the duration of the contract
- Knowledge of current tax laws and regulatory requirements
