Processes, evaluates, prepares, and routes specimens; performs selected laboratory tests and prepares reagents in accordance with departmental procedures and regulatory guidelines. Documents quality control, equipment and work-area maintenance, and supply activities, and communicates verified results and operational issues as appropriate. Some college-level coursework in biology or a related life science is preferred. The role requires accurate specimen and patient identification, proficiency with laboratory computer applications, adherence to procedures and regulatory guidelines, and the ability to work in a biohazard laboratory using required personal protective equipment.
