Trauma Registrar
Remote (Local candidates may opt for onsite work)
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
The Trauma Registrar plays a crucial role in a dynamic trauma program. This position involves the extraction of trauma patient information, assignment of ICD-10 and AIS codes, calculation of Injury Severity Scores, and ensuring the precision and integrity of the Trauma Registry. The ideal applicant will possess hands-on experience with TraumaBase and the ability to operate autonomously in a high-energy setting with minimal supervision.
Qualifications for Trauma Registrar:
– High School Diploma or equivalent
– Associate Degree in fields such as Allied Health, Anatomy & Physiology, Health Information Management, or a related area
– 3–5+ years of experience in Trauma Registry
– Direct experience with TraumaBase
– A minimum of 2 years of AIS coding experience within a Trauma Registry
– Proficiency in ICD-10 coding
– Experience in calculating Injury Severity Scores
– Expertise in trauma data abstraction and registry upkeep
– Capacity to work independently with limited guidance
– CSTR Certification
– RHIT Certification
– CCS Certification
– AIS Certification
Responsibilities of the Trauma Registrar:
– Identify and register trauma patients for the Trauma Registry
– Extract and input trauma patient data utilizing TraumaBase
– Assign required ICD-10 and AIS codes
– Calculate Injury Severity Scores accurately
– Ensure the quality and integrity of the trauma registry data
– Validate data within the registry and address any discrepancies
– Support reporting requirements for NTDB, TQIP, NORTR, and state mandates
– Identify and document opportunities for Performance Improvement
– Produce reports for the Trauma Committee and leadership
– Comply with hospital policies, HIPAA regulations, and other legal standards
– Undertake additional tasks as assigned
– Possess a dedicated remote workspace with a stable internet connection
– Provide personal computer and equipment for the role
