Job Summary
The position of Prototype Assembler involves the electrical and mechanical construction of engineered-to-order (ETO) cabinet systems. This role demands proficiency in deciphering electrical schematics, technical diagrams, work orders, and customer requirements, converting these into tangible products. The Prototype Assembler’s tasks encompass wiring, preparation of wires, component installation, labeling, cabinet alterations, and mechanical assembly, all while upholding stringent safety, quality, efficiency, and timely delivery standards.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and implement electrical schematics, technical drawings, work orders, and specifications from both the company and clients.
- Conduct mechanical assembly of components on electrical panels and cabinets.
- Assemble and disassemble cabinet doors, accessories, and associated elements.
- Execute low-voltage, power, and signal wiring tasks.
- Select suitable wiring, components, hardware, and securing techniques based on technical documentation.
- Carry out electrical wiring tasks including stripping, crimping, terminating, routing, and securing.
- Install and accurately position electrical and mechanical components in cabinets and panels.
- Label wires, components, and cabinets accurately and consistently.
- Modify cabinets and panels to align with project needs.
- Ensure quality and consistency in craftsmanship across various builds.
- Identify and troubleshoot assembly challenges, effectively communicating with team members and departments.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace that adheres to safety standards.
- Complete assigned builds efficiently to meet deadlines and quality controls.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in electrical panel assembly is required.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Experience with the assembly of electrical cabinets or control panels.
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools such as drills, crimpers, and torque wrenches.
- Capable of visualizing a final product and constructing it based on technical specifications.
- Aptitude for selecting components, determining their correct placement, and independently carrying out assembly.
- Attention to detail, good organizational capabilities, basic math skills, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 35 lbs.
- High school diploma is necessary.
- Preferred background includes over 5 years in manufacturing, experience in ETO manufacturing, and an associate degree.
- Experience within a prototype assembly or production setting is valuable.
- Familiarity with the electrical and mechanical assembly of customized equipment or cabinet systems is advantageous.
