Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the operating room, focusing on providing support during surgical procedures. This position requires proficiency in handling surgical instruments and equipment, with additional responsibilities concerning robotic surgical systems.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment is sterile and ready for use.
- Work collaboratively with surgeons and nursing staff to facilitate smooth surgical operations.
- Manage and pass instruments to surgeons during operations, demonstrating expert knowledge of surgical tools and techniques.
- Support robotic surgeries by assisting with the setup and operation of robotic systems.
- Monitor patient safety and maintain a sterile environment throughout procedures.
- Participate in the cleaning and sterilization of instruments post-surgery.
Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technologist program or equivalent education.
- Certification from an accredited body such as the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- Experience in an operating room setting, particularly with robotic surgical equipment, is preferred.
- Strong understanding of surgical procedures, protocols, and safety standards.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with medical staff.
