Job Summary
This role is responsible for managing all accounting functions within the dealership, ensuring accurate financial reporting, efficient close processes, and rigorous balance sheet examinations. The position emphasizes compliance with relevant company policies, manufacturer standards, and accounting practices. Additionally, the individual will mentor and guide the accounting team while providing strategic financial insight to dealership leadership, supporting various financial initiatives, including corporate audits and acquisitions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee dealership accounting operations and financial reporting.
- Manage close processes and perform thorough balance sheet reviews.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance standards.
- Guide and develop accounting staff to enhance departmental performance.
- Advise dealership leadership on financial health and strategic planning.
- Support corporate reporting, audits, and acquisition activities.
- Facilitate other key financial initiatives as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Possession of a CPA or another relevant professional accounting designation.
- A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in accounting, including prior work as a Controller or Assistant Controller within an automotive dealership.
- In-depth knowledge of dealership accounting practices and financial reporting.
- Experience with internal controls and closing processes.
- Strong analytical and Excel skills, accompanied by effective leadership and communication abilities.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
