Job Summary
The Hemodialysis Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in providing high-quality care for patients undergoing hemodialysis treatments. This specialized position requires the nurse to utilize their clinical expertise to monitor patients’ conditions, administer treatments, and ensure overall safety and comfort. The RN will work closely with a healthcare team to deliver individualized care plans and education to patients and their families regarding kidney health.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments and monitor vital signs during dialysis treatments.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician.
- Educate patients and their families about dialysis procedures and care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement comprehensive care plans.
- Document patient progress and treatment outcomes accurately in medical records.
- Ensure compliance with safety and infection control protocols within the dialysis unit.
- Respond to emergencies and provide essential care as required.
- Assist in the training of new staff or nursing students as needed.
Qualifications
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Relevant clinical experience, preferably in hemodialysis or critical care.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and team members.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple patient responsibilities.
