Job Summary
The Ophthalmic Technician II plays a crucial role in the eye care team by providing specialized assistance during examinations and procedures. This position involves interacting with patients to ensure their comfort and safety while performing essential technical tasks that support ophthalmologists in delivering high-quality care.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by gathering relevant medical history and conducting preliminary tests.
- Assist in various diagnostic procedures and ensure proper operation of ophthalmic equipment.
- Document findings accurately and maintain organized patient records.
- Provide instructions and information to patients regarding their eye care and treatments.
- Support ophthalmologists during surgeries and other medical interventions as needed.
Qualifications
- Preferred completion of an accredited ophthalmic technician program.
- Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) is highly desirable.
- Experience in a clinical setting, especially in ophthalmology, is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent patient interaction skills.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and ophthalmic terminology.
