Job Summary
The Cardiac SDU RN (Registered Nurse) is a crucial member of the healthcare team, specializing in the care of patients in the cardiac step-down unit. This role focuses on providing high-quality nursing care to individuals recovering from cardiac surgeries or procedures, monitoring their vitals, and ensuring they are stable before moving to less intensive care. The RN will work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver patient-centered care, adhering to best practices in the field.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with cardiac conditions.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and assess their response to treatments.
- Administer medications and manage IV therapies as prescribed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to formulate and implement care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about post-operative care and recovery.
- Respond to emergencies and perform interventions as necessary.
- Document all nursing assessments and interventions accurately.
Qualifications
- Current RN license to practice in the state.
- Previous experience in a cardiac care unit or similar environment preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
