Job Summary
The Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (MED/SURG RN) plays a vital role in delivering comprehensive care to patients in a hospital setting. This position entails assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Candidates must demonstrate strong clinical judgment and effective communication skills for successful patient interaction and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients on admission and throughout their stay.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing protocols.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any significant changes to the healthcare team.
- Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and implement effective care plans.
- Document patient care activities and interventions accurately in medical records.
- Uphold hospital policies, safety standards, and ethical guidelines in all patient interactions.
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; ADN considered with relevant experience.
- Minimum of one year of experience in an acute care setting, ideally in medical-surgical nursing.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient and family engagement.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team and adapt to dynamic environments.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
