Accounting Assistant
Painesville, OH
$26/Hr (Part-Time)
As an Accounting Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the precision and reliability of financial records, ensuring prompt payment administration, and working collaboratively with various departments. The suitable candidate will possess strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and a proactive mindset in overseeing daily accounting responsibilities, aiding in financial reporting, and pinpointing opportunities to enhance processes.
Accounting Assistant Responsibilities:
- Examine and authorize invoices, ensuring the correct account coding during purchase order processing.
- Oversee vendor and service provider contracts, negotiate beneficial terms, and facilitate the transition of vendors to ACH payments.
- Process and monitor outgoing payments while maintaining daily cash register and reconciling the company checking account.
- Handle incoming payments, including credit card transactions, and keep track of accounts receivable.
- Enhance collections by contacting clients regarding overdue accounts and addressing any payment discrepancies.
- Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger, ensuring accurate documentation of account statuses.
- Assist with month-end reporting, close relevant modules (such as Inventory, Purchase Orders, and Sales Orders), and post entries to the general ledger.
- Manage 1099 reporting, aid in budget preparation and analysis, and contribute to year-end closing procedures and audits.
- Provide general office support as required and work collaboratively with departments to enhance accounting processes.
- Identify and apply cost-saving strategies in accounting and administrative tasks.
Accounting Assistant Requirements:
- High School Diploma.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting.
- Exceptional attention to detail combined with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; capable of effective collaboration across different departments.
