Accounting Clerk

The Accounting Clerk will handle daily cash processing and oversee the collection of accounts receivable within a designated customer portfolio. This role will frequently collaborate with customer service, pricing, and the sales teams to address any inconsistencies or issues. The primary objective is to ensure prompt application of customer payments and to tackle any payment discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities of the Accounting Clerk:
- Manage collection efforts for overdue accounts, implementing a systematic follow-up process with documented notes, in line with set objectives.
- Evaluate process effectiveness and conduct root cause analyses to promote improvements.
- Oversee escalations involving customers, suppliers, and operations.
- Work with credit and sales teams to craft action plans aimed at optimizing outcomes and reducing potential risks.
- Promptly escalate customer-related concerns to credit and leadership teams, ensuring effective upward management.
- Contribute to cash flow forecasting for designated business units and clients (30/60 day projections).
- Participate in monthly Accounts Receivable (AR) aging discussions.
- Assess cash discount deductions for resolution and collection, as necessary.
- Ensure adherence to mandated internal controls and policies.
- Support colleagues through backup assistance and cross-training initiatives.
Requirements for the Accounting Clerk:
- High School Diploma is necessary; Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in accounts receivable, collections, or cash handling.
- Proven success in prior positions and the capability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Business Intelligence (BI) tools, and SAP ERP systems.
- Basic knowledge of customer relations, products, and market dynamics.
- Understanding of billing practices and collection strategies (e.g., skip tracing).
- Process-oriented and highly organized work approach.
- Strong financial and commercial awareness.
- Ability to navigate a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and project management capabilities.
