Job Summary
The Tax Preparation Specialist is responsible for assisting individuals and businesses in preparing their tax returns accurately and efficiently. This role involves ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations, providing expert advice on deductions and credits, and delivering exceptional customer service throughout the tax preparation process.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review tax returns for individuals and small businesses, ensuring accuracy and adherence to current tax laws.
- Guide clients on tax planning strategies and available deductions to optimize their tax situations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving tax regulations and practices.
- Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary financial information and documentation.
- Respond to client inquiries and provide support during the tax filing process.
- File tax returns electronically where applicable.
- Assist in resolving any issues or inquiries from tax authorities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in tax preparation, preferably with a recognized firm or as a self-employed professional.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and guidelines.
- Excellent analytical skills with great attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Relevant educational background, ideally in accounting or finance, with necessary certifications.
