Job Summary
The ASCP Certified Pathologists Assistant plays a vital role in the pathology laboratory, assisting pathologists in the examination and diagnosis of specimens. This position requires specialized knowledge and skills to perform tasks that support the effective functioning of the pathology department, ensuring high-quality patient care through accurate and efficient specimen handling and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Assist pathologists in the preparation and examination of pathology specimens.
- Manage the gross examination of surgical specimens, documenting findings accurately.
- Ensure proper specimen labeling and documentation for traceability and quality control.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of laboratory protocols and safety measures.
- Participate in educational programs and training for medical staff regarding pathology procedures.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications
- Must hold ASCP certification as a Pathologists Assistant.
- Have completed a relevant graduate-level education in Pathologists’ Assistant program.
- Exhibit strong analytical skills and attention to detail in laboratory work.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective collaboration.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of laboratory safety protocols and best practices.
