Job Summary
The Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in the healthcare revenue cycle by managing the submission of insurance claims, conducting follow-ups, and addressing patient account issues across diverse payment sources. This position also involves oversight of collection activities, which includes generating patient statements and following up on overdue accounts while maintaining adherence to regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Submit insurance claims accurately and timely to various payers.
- Conduct follow-ups on claims to ensure resolution and payment.
- Resolve any issues related to patient accounts and billing discrepancies.
- Manage collection processes by generating statements and pursuing outstanding debts.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and billing practices.
Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years of experience in medical billing or outpatient claims processing.
- Proficient in ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Preferred credentials include a certificate in medical billing or an associate degree in a related discipline.
- Possession of relevant professional certifications is advantageous.
