BIM Designer
Sterling, VA

Overview of the BIM Designer Role:
The BIM Designer plays a key role in delivering modeling services aligned with project requirements and standards. This position is part of the production team, where strong communication skills are essential to ensure the efficient generation of accurate models and deliverables as assigned.

Key Responsibilities of the BIM Designer:

  • Collaborate with the Supervisor/Lead Modeler to incorporate layout and field details into Revit, adhering to REI Standards.
  • Conduct a thorough review of your work for precision prior to submitting it for further processing.
  • Create project sheets that meet specific requirements and comply with REI Standards.
  • Maintain the integrity of the Revit model in accordance with Company BIM Standards.
  • Track and document the progress of assigned tasks following project guidelines.
  • Adhere to all REI confidentiality and Non-Disclosure obligations associated with this role.
  • Safeguard the Company’s proprietary or intellectual property.

Desired Skills for the BIM Designer:

  • Strong self-management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Revit, including creating and adjusting views, browser structures, sheets, schedules, filters, and related elements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to accurately follow detailed instructions.
  • Familiarity with REI BIM protocols, processes, and standards including workflows.
  • Capability to interpret 2D plans in both digital and print format, including one-lines, lighting schedules, and panel schedules.
  • Willingness to learn industry-standard software such as BlueBeam, Autodesk Cloud tools, and NavisWorks.
  • Skilled in importing various types of documents into Revit projects, including spreadsheets and images.
  • Ability to effectively proofread, edit, and spell-check work independently.
  • Understanding of working within Revit collaborative environments.
  • Awareness of 3D coordination with various trades.
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments, adjusting as required.
  • Capability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances with a positive mindset.
  • Proficient in both oral and written communication with a focus on solutions.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and capable of working effectively within a team.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with all organizational levels, including both management and staff.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent necessary.
  • An Associate degree in Computerized Drafting or a related discipline is preferred.
  • At least 6 months of experience in electrical drafting, installation, or with Revit is required.
  • Combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
