Job Summary
The Bone Marrow Transplant Registered Nurse (RN) is essential in delivering specialized care to patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation. This role requires expertise in hematology and oncology nursing while focusing on the intricate needs surrounding transplant care. The RN will ensure that comprehensive assessments and evidence-based practices are implemented to provide optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients prior to and after bone marrow transplantation.
- Administer chemotherapy and other necessary medications as part of the treatment protocol.
- Monitor patient vital signs and clinical status, ensuring proactive intervention when needed.
- Educate patients and their families about the transplant process, including potential complications and aftercare.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care and individualized treatment plans.
- Document patient care activities accurately in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families during a challenging period of treatment.
Qualifications
- Current and valid RN license to practice in the state.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Previous experience in oncology or bone marrow transplant nursing is strongly preferred.
- ACLS/BLS certification is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative healthcare environment.
