The Building Commissioning Project Manager will spearhead and execute intricate capital construction and operational readiness initiatives. This position entails managing the comprehensive commissioning workflow—from the design phase to post-occupancy—across a variety of critical sectors such as life sciences, semiconductor production, and battery manufacturing. The ideal candidate should possess decisive leadership qualities and excel in high-energy settings, ensuring that projects are completed timely, within the designated scope, and meet client requirements.

Key Responsibilities of the Building Commissioning Project Manager:

  • Direct the planning, execution, and completion of the commissioning workflow for capital projects, ensuring compliance with established scope, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
  • Create and uphold comprehensive project plans, schedules, resource distributions, risk analysis, and communication frameworks.
  • Oversee and organize multidisciplinary commissioning teams while working closely with engineers, construction managers, and clients.
  • Evaluate project performance, proactively detect potential issues, and apply corrective measures to guarantee successful project delivery.
  • Document and present project milestones, deliverables, and financial outcomes to both leadership and clients.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
  • Facilitate project meetings to encourage effective communication among all stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between clients and internal teams, fostering strong relationships and enhancing client satisfaction.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments to proactively address project and client needs.
  • Align project results with organizational objectives and facilitate continuous enhancement efforts.
  • Manage the collaboration of cross-functional teams to ensure effective project completion.

Qualifications for the Building Commissioning Project Manager:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Facilities, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5–10 years of experience executing and managing commissioning projects.
  • Demonstrated success as a Project Manager in the capital construction field, particularly within life sciences, semiconductor, or other mission-critical industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of commissioning protocols, project management principles, and best practices.
  • Skilled in creating project schedules, budgets, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to concurrently manage multiple projects within a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as necessary, including out-of-state travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as CxA, CCP, BCxA, PMP, or equivalent.
  • Experience with project management and construction software tools (e.g., Procore, ACC, Bluebeam).
  • Proficiency in commissioning software applications (e.g., CxAlloy, Facility Grid, Cx Planner, Kneat).
  • Familiarity with LEED Enhanced Commissioning and relevant standards.
  • Understanding of industry-specific regulations and codes.
