Job Summary
The Cardiac Surgery RN First Assistant plays a vital role in providing support during cardiac surgical procedures, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. This position requires a registered nurse with specialized experience in cardiac care who will assist the surgical team by delivering technical support and facilitating seamless patient management throughout the perioperative period.
Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team during cardiac surgeries, including open-heart procedures.
- Provide direct patient care before, during, and after surgery, monitoring vital signs and overall patient status.
- Prepare the operating room and surgical instruments, ensuring a sterile environment.
- Collaborate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to enhance surgical efficiency and patient safety.
- Educate patients and their families regarding post-operative care and recovery protocols.
Qualifications
- Must hold a current RN license with cardiac surgery experience.
- Certification as a First Assistant in Surgical Procedures is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy and surgical techniques.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to respond effectively in high-pressure situations within a surgical environment.
