Job Summary
The Cardiology Stepdown Nurse assumes a vital role in delivering comprehensive care for patients transitioning from intensive cardiovascular environments. This position necessitates a blend of advanced clinical expertise and collaborative engagement with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient recovery and education.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and cardiac rhythms, providing timely interventions as needed.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to protocols and safety guidelines.
- Educate patients and their families about heart health, post-surgical care, and lifestyle modifications.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to create individualized care plans.
- Maintain accurate and updated patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance care delivery and patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license with a focus on critical care or cardiology preferred.
- Experience in a stepdown or telemetry unit is highly advantageous.
- Basic and advanced cardiac life support (BCLS/ACLS) certification required.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
