Equipment Handler
Location: Akron, OH
Pay: $18/HR
Shifts: Multiple Options Available
Position Summary:
The Equipment Handler plays a crucial role in the Sterile Processing Department (SPD), handling vital tasks such as equipment testing, performing diagnostics, assembling and distributing case carts, organizing surgical materials, and providing necessary support for dispatch operations to ensure optimal case flow and surgical preparedness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate daily diagnostic reports and execute equipment testing as required.
- Collect pull sheets and follow precise instructions to accurately pull and document case carts.
- Organize, stock, and manage surgical supplies and equipment to uphold efficiency and compliance standards.
- Deliver, retrieve, and return case carts and supplies to assigned clinical settings.
- Transport instruments and supplies to various locations within the facility.
- Employ tracking systems to oversee and manage the location and condition of instrument sets.
- Assist the Sterile Processing Department with various operational tasks as assigned.
- Adhere to hospital protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with safety and sterilization guidelines.
- Engage in professional communication with surgical teams and SPD personnel to promote seamless operations.
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required.
- The role necessitates critical thinking capabilities and sound judgment, along with the ability to work independently.
- Candidates should thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Basic proficiency in reading, writing, and computer skills is preferred.
- Professional demeanor must be maintained at all times.
- Prior experience is not necessary.
Physical Demands:
- Must have full range of motion to handle and lift items weighing 20-30 pounds.
- Ability to push a fully loaded cart that may exceed 200 pounds is required.
- Extended periods of standing and walking are expected throughout the shift.
- Must lift and carry various supplies and equipment regularly.
- Potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards exists.
- Vision and hearing must be corrected to within normal ranges.
