Job Summary
The Certified Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in the operating room by assisting surgeons and other medical personnel during surgical procedures. This position requires a thorough understanding of surgical practices, aseptic techniques, and the efficient management of surgical instruments and supplies. A successful candidate will ensure that the surgical environment is safe and that all necessary equipment is prepared prior to surgery.
Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures including sterilization of instruments and equipment.
- Assist surgical teams by passing instruments and supplies during operations.
- Ensure the maintenance of a sterile field throughout the surgical process.
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons and assist in delivering optimal patient care.
- Handle and manage surgical specimens as per protocols.
- Participate in the preparation and handling of surgical instruments after procedures.
- Conduct regular checks and inventory of surgical supplies and tools.
Qualifications
- Certification through an accredited surgical technology program.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Proven experience as a surgical tech, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and aseptic techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
