Chemical Operator

First Shift (6:00a-4:30p)
The position of the Chemical Operator involves the safe execution of batch production processes within a manufacturing setting, while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and operational protocols. The role includes the operation and monitoring of processing equipment, including reactors, tanks, and material handling systems. Duties also encompass the precise charging of raw materials and the regulation of process parameters such as temperature, pressure, and volume. The operator is responsible for maintaining comprehensive production records, packaging finished products according to customer specifications, and facilitating the movement of materials using manual techniques and forklifts.
Chemical Operator Responsibilities:
- Safely manage equipment operations, which includes startup, shutdown, and product changeovers using various tools such as reactors, tanks, conveyors, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
- Open bags to create batches as directed.
- Follow batch procedures to accurately charge raw materials.
- Oversee and adjust controls to maintain optimal tank and reactor levels, as well as monitor temperature and pressure.
- Accurately document reactor conditions on batch sheets.
- Package the finished product in bags, drums, or supersacks in accordance with company and client standards.
- Assist in the manual or forklift-assisted movement of product bags and drums.
- Competence in forklift operation is required.
- Conduct regular housekeeping to ensure a clean and orderly work environment.
- Adhere to safety measures to avoid chemical reactions and promptly report any issues with products or machinery to a supervisor.
Chemical Operator Qualifications
- Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing role.
- Forklift operation skills are required.
- Proficient in basic math operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Physical ability to lift, push, and move up to 50 lbs periodically throughout the shift.
- Capability to wear a negative-pressure elastomeric seal respirator.
- Experience as a Chemical or Powder Machine Operator is preferred.
