**Overview of the Civil Structural Designer Position:**
The Civil/Structural Designer plays a supportive role to the engineering team by utilizing fundamental drafting and design techniques. This includes gathering and analyzing data sourced from the field and project documentation to benefit our clients, employing state-of-the-art drafting and Building Information Modeling (BIM) methods. The selected candidate will be required to meet the demands of the role, which includes occasional travel to client sites, both locally and out of state, for tasks such as client meetings or performing field data collection and measurements.

**Qualifications:**
– Proficiency in software tools such as MS Office, AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit, and Navisworks.
– Eagerness to learn and operate field equipment, including GPS surveying and laser scanning tools.
– Ability to navigate through client facilities, which may involve working in cramped but not confined areas.
– Capability to commute to the office regularly.
– Dependable attendance and punctuality at the work site are essential.

**Desired Education and Experience:**
– 2 to 5 years of experience in drafting for civil/structural projects.
– A vocational or Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design (CADD) or equivalent experience.
– Fundamental understanding of designing and laying out structural foundations, including steel framing and concrete/wood/light gauge metal/masonry structures.
– Skill in creating standard design layouts that integrate requirements from various engineering fields for a cohesive final design.
– Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the civil/structural domain, relying on set instructions and established protocols for daily operations.
– Creation of design layouts that adhere to engineering standards and codes, taking into account factors such as constructability and aesthetic presentation.

**Optional Experience:**
– Basic surveying experience for assessing project elevations and control points using leveling or total station equipment.
– Familiarity with Autodesk Civil 3D or a willingness to learn.
– Experience in developing site designs, grading plans, and underground utility layouts.
– Strong critical thinking and planning abilities, with a keen eye for detail to identify discrepancies.
– Competence in gathering data from field observations or existing documentation.
– Ability to collaborate with other departments and engineering disciplines to ensure project completion efficiently and effectively.
– Experience working in a dynamic team environment with multiple ongoing deadlines.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– Commitment to adhering to all company policies, procedures, and standards.
