Position Overview for CNC Machinist
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines in accordance with blueprints, specifications, and job layouts, ensuring tight dimensional tolerances across various materials. This role demands a high level of technical expertise, sound judgment, and a strong dedication to both quality and efficiency. At AMMI, our machinists are empowered to effectively operate their machines, communicate proactively, and produce precise, high-quality components.

Key Responsibilities for CNC Machinist

  • Efficiently set up new and repeat jobs based on blueprints and job routers.
  • Develop programs directly on the machine to produce parts that adhere to blueprint specifications.
  • Submit manufactured parts for first article approval.
  • Achieve the machine rate targets specified on the job router.
  • Ensure processes are stable and ready for a seamless operator handoff.
  • Operate CNC machines, continuously monitoring and maintaining the quality of parts produced.
  • Replace worn tooling and make necessary adjustments to machine offsets.
  • Inspect and document key features in line with inspection standards.
  • Complete mandatory production documentation and log setup/production data on a daily basis.
  • Accurately label or tag machined parts for proper identification.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized workspace.
  • Work autonomously while keeping the foreman and engineering team updated on any issues or changes in the processes.

Qualifications for CNC Machinist

  • Preferred CNC machining experience, including job setup (ideally 3+ years).
  • Familiarity with Fanuc M and G codes.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and a solid understanding of GD&T.
  • Experience with precision inspection tools.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Prior experience with multi-axis CNC machines is advantageous.
  • Aerospace or precision machining experience is a plus.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Capacity to lift up to 25 lbs.
