Design Engineer

Granville, OH The Productivity Contract CAD Technician actively participates on cross-functional teams delivering technical solutions that impact residential roofing operations. This role supports engineers and scientists in the design, drafting, fabrication, assembly, and testing of prototype process equipment. The primary focus is creating 3D models and detailed drawings to accelerate prototype development and improve existing manufacturing designs. Design Engineer Responsibilities
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety in laboratory and manufacturing environments
- Identifies hazards and supports corrective actions
- Ensures compliance with all site safety procedures and OC corporate policies
- Maintains good housekeeping practices
- Works under the direction of engineers and scientists
- Creates 3D models and detailed drawings using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks
- Prepares drawings for prototype concepts and production use
- Generates models for 3D-printed prototypes
- Assists with building product and process prototypes and test stands
- Supports prototype testing and evaluation
- Actively contributes to Near Miss reporting and hazard elimination efforts
- Participates fully in site safety initiatives
- Performs non-routine task hazard assessments
- Safely and consistently completes pilot line operational tasks
- Builds high-quality prototypes that meet engineering requirements
- Ensures test deliverables meet quality requirements and standards
Design Engineer Qualifications
- Associate’s degree required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Required experience with 3D modeling and drawing creation using CAD software (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks preferred)
- Experience creating drawings for production and assembly
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing and/or laboratory environment (preferred)
- Proficient with computers and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Project or task management experience preferred
