Job Summary
The Dosimetrist plays a crucial role in the field of radiation therapy, primarily focusing on developing precise treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation treatment for cancer. This professional collaborates with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to ensure the delivery of safe and effective doses of radiation while minimizing exposure to healthy tissues.
Responsibilities
- Create and modify radiation treatment plans based on patient-specific information.
- Coordinate with the medical team to ensure accurate implementation of treatment protocols.
- Utilize advanced software and technologies to calculate radiation doses.
- Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure all equipment and procedures meet regulatory standards.
- Monitor treatment plans and make necessary adjustments as needed during treatment cycles.
- Maintain thorough documentation of treatment plans and patient records.
- Participate in research and continuing education to stay updated on advancements in dosimetry.
Qualifications
- Degree in Medical Dosimetry or related field.
- Certification from a recognized body such as the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB).
- Experience in radiation oncology or a similar clinical environment.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in the use of dosimetry planning software and related technology.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
