Job Overview
As the Electrical Maintenance Lead, you will spearhead all electrical maintenance functions within the Plant, ensuring a secure, dependable, and efficient manufacturing atmosphere. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, enhancing equipment reliability, and promoting continuous improvement efforts to optimize plant output. You will provide expert technical guidance for electrical systems, which include power distribution, PLCs, DCS controls, instrumentation, and high-voltage machinery. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership qualities that encourage a culture centered on safety, accountability, teamwork, and employee growth. This role collaborates closely with production, maintenance, and plant leadership to achieve top-tier operational performance while guiding a unionized maintenance workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all facets of electrical maintenance operations at the Plant.
- Encourage and sustain a robust safety culture through training, engagement, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Design and roll out preventive and predictive maintenance plans to enhance equipment reliability.
- Ensure electrical maintenance efforts align with peak plant performance and minimize operational downtime.
- Guide, mentor, and develop a team of around 22 unionized electrical maintenance personnel.
- Create training programs for crafts and promote an environment of continuous learning.
- Act as the technical expert for the plant’s electrical systems, including PLCs, DCS controls, high-voltage apparatus, instrumentation, and power distribution.
- Perform risk evaluations for critical maintenance operations and assure compliance with regulations and environmental standards.
- Identify and apply opportunities for reliability enhancements and cost efficiencies.
- Work in partnership with production and cross-functional groups to enhance equipment function and operational effectiveness.
- Oversee change initiatives, prioritizing high levels of employee engagement.
- Ensure supervisory actions are in line with the collective bargaining agreement and assist in resolution of grievances.
- Track maintenance performance indicators, safety objectives, and continuous improvement projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Maintenance Technology, or a closely related discpline; equivalent experience may be considered.
- A minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience within a manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrated experience managing electrical maintenance functions in an industrial environment.
- Proficient knowledge of PLCs, DCS control systems, high-voltage electrical apparatus, instrumentation, line drives, and data acquisition systems.
- Experience in developing and executing preventive and predictive maintenance plans.
- Prior experience leading a unionized workforce is preferred.
- Experience or certification in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma is highly desirable.
- Strong skills in analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and coaching skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
