Embedded Software Engineer III
12 Month Contract
Twinsburg, OH
$70-80/hr W2

Summary
Our client is in search of an embedded software engineer to become part of the conversion team. The selected individual will often take on the role of lead embedded software engineer throughout the full development lifecycle for embedded software, which plays a crucial role in maintaining the safety and reliability of aircraft electric power systems. In this capacity, the software engineer will utilize their expertise in the embedded landscape, aircraft applications, design assurance methodologies, and current aerospace industry trends to infuse reliability into every product.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the complete development lifecycle of embedded software.
  • Draft, assess, and trace requirements.
  • Create and review software.
  • Conduct debugging within an embedded environment.
  • Investigate root causes of reported issues.
  • Employ development tools for software performance analysis, including stack/memory usage, timing margins, and verification coverage analysis.
  • Design testing strategies aligned with software requirements.
  • Assist in the investigation of software verification issues.
  • Support audits conducted by customers and regulatory bodies.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in embedded software development.
  • Thorough understanding of various microcontroller architectures and their operating principles.
  • Experience with design assurance processes, such as DO-178 or IEC 61508.
  • Expertise in C programming.
  • Familiarity with version control systems and practices.
  • Proficient with lifecycle management tools, including requirements documentation, tracing, validation, verification, and problem reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Experience in debugging embedded systems, both through simulations and on target hardware.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage software development efforts for projects lasting several years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, or computer science.
  • Knowledge of MISRA C guidelines.
  • Familiarity with power electronics principles.
  • Aptitude for preparing presentations and leading audits.
  • Ability to interpret schematics.
  • Experience in the development of electrical power systems for military aircraft on an international scale.
