Position Overview
The Engineering Technician plays a crucial role in modifying, repairing, and constructing circuit card assemblies (CCAs), electronic test devices, wiring harnesses, and various aircraft electronic components. This position involves collaborating with engineering through hands-on tasks such as assembly, soldering, rework, and troubleshooting while utilizing technical documents including schematics, PCB layouts, and work instructions. It’s an ideal opportunity for individuals with solid experience in electronics assembly who are eager to contribute to aerospace engineering and product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Revise, repair, and construct circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and electronic hardware based on engineering documentation.
- Assemble and diagnose electronic testing equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Create electronic components for aircraft intended for engineering tests and evaluations.
- Assist the Engineering team with troubleshooting and repairing circuit card assemblies.
- Perform soldering and reworking tasks for both surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole components.
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts, and assembly instructions.
- Conduct routine laboratory audits and uphold organized work environments.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory processes and efficiency.
- Adhere to all established safety, environmental, and quality standards of the company.
- Be available for occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
- Travel on a limited basis (less than 5%), which may involve some domestic and international trips.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in electronics assembly, repair, or as an engineering technician.
- Hands-on proficiency in soldering and reworking surface-mount and through-hole components.
- Experience with PCB modifications, such as component replacements, cuts, jumps, and board rework.
- Capability to assemble electronic hardware and testing equipment using handheld tools.
- Aptitude for reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with PCB CAD software like Allegro, PCAD, Expedition, PADS, or similar tools.
- Strong communication abilities and skill in working collaboratively with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams.
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks independently in a dynamic work environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
- Active or prior IPC soldering/rework certification is preferred.
- Must meet the criteria of a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR regulations (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).
