Hardware Development Engineer Overview
We are seeking a Hardware Development Engineer to be part of an innovative engineering team dedicated to the design of cutting-edge industrial automation systems and control solutions. This position plays a key role through all phases of hardware product development, encompassing sub-circuit design, hardware integration, prototype evaluation, functional analysis, verification processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Candidates should be collaborative, enthusiastic about learning new technologies, and focused on ongoing improvement, sharing knowledge, and increasing technical leadership. Hardware Development Engineer Responsibilities

  • Work alongside an agile engineering group to create and enhance new products in industrial automation, focusing on overall architecture and hardware validation.
  • Develop, analyze, debug, and validate electronic hardware prototypes.
  • Produce design documentation, technical specs, and comprehensive test reports.
  • Explore emerging technologies and assist in initiatives related to circuit design tools and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with technical colleagues to roll out test automation and simulation design strategies.
  • Cultivate strong relationships within engineering and across departments to grasp the complete product development lifecycle.
  • Engage in initiatives geared towards continuous improvement and refine best engineering practices.
  • Support hardware development from concept through testing, verification, and product integration.

Hardware Development Engineer Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in cross-functional hardware product development.
  • Proficient in using design capture tools and interpreting schematics.
  • Strong understanding of circuit theory and operations, including microprocessors, digital logic devices, analog power conversion, and programmable components such as CPLDs and FPGAs.
  • Hands-on experience with testing equipment such as debuggers, precision oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Programming skills in Python and/or C++, with a focus on automating hardware testing.
  • Experience in a scaled Agile work environment.
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards like IEC 61508 and/or EMC standards such as IEC 61000.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • A growth-oriented mindset with a readiness to learn, mentor peers and take on greater technical responsibilities.
