Job Summary
The Hemodialysis RN is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing hemodialysis treatments. This role involves monitoring patient progress, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and providing education to patients about managing their health with dialysis. The nurse collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient care, focusing on both physical and emotional support.
Responsibilities
- Administer hemodialysis treatments while ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs and overall condition throughout the dialysis process.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding dialysis and related health practices.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to devise and modify treatment plans.
- Document patient information and treatment outcomes accurately in medical records.
- Respond to patient needs promptly and effectively during treatments.
- Assist with the management of dialysis equipment and related supplies.
Qualifications
- Active RN license with specified credentials in hemodialysis.
- Experience in nephrology nursing or a similar healthcare setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support patient interactions.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse healthcare team.
- Understanding of renal disease and its treatment modalities.
- Current CPR certification and knowledge of emergency response protocols.
