Job description
Job Summary
The Histology Technician plays a crucial role in the preparation and analysis of biological tissue samples. This position is essential for supporting various clinical and research applications through the meticulous handling and processing of specimens, ensuring accurate results that contribute to patient care and scientific inquiry.
Responsibilities
- Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination through embedding, sectioning, and staining procedures.
- Operate and maintain histology equipment and instruments, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
- Evaluate and document findings from histological examinations, generating reports to assist in diagnoses and research.
- Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure the integrity of specimens and workflow efficiency.
- Adhere to protocols and regulations regarding laboratory procedures and data management.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Histotechnology or a related field, with a certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferred.
- Proficient in histological techniques and laboratory practices.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality in laboratory work.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
