Imaging Engineer II Job Overview
The Imaging Engineer II plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation of sophisticated medical imaging devices by performing repairs, maintenance, calibration, and verification activities. This position guarantees that equipment operates safely, accurately, and reliably, while also ensuring compliance with regulatory standards concerning radiation output, documentation, and inventory management. The Imaging Engineer II acts as a technical advisor to healthcare professionals, vendors, and team members, providing support and training to ensure optimal functionality of imaging systems and reducing downtime. Candidates are expected to possess a minimum of three years of experience in servicing medical imaging technologies, along with robust diagnostic and technical capabilities, and a strong focus on precision, safety, and ongoing professional growth.

Key Responsibilities of Imaging Engineer II

  • Oversee the repair, maintenance, installation, calibration, and troubleshooting of medical imaging equipment, including radiology rooms, C-arms, ultrasound, and mammography systems.
  • Conduct testing and verification of equipment to ensure operational safety, precision, and dependability of imaging systems.
  • Track and ensure adherence to radiation output standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot intricate hardware and software problems, including error codes, power components, hard drive issues, networking, and system diagnostics.
  • Provide technical assistance to medical staff and personnel when equipment performance affects patient care or operational efficiency.
  • Maintain precise equipment records and service documentation, alongside effective management of databases and inventory.
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors for the repair, installation, upgrade, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Guide and mentor fellow biomedical equipment technicians.
  • Quickly respond to equipment failures to minimize downtime and ensure continuous imaging service availability.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and various networking applications to facilitate equipment management and documentation.
  • Demonstrate a high level of detail and precision while servicing medical imaging equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, regulatory standards, and organizational procedures during the servicing of equipment.

Qualifications for Imaging Engineer II

  • A minimum of three years of experience in the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of medical imaging devices.
  • Familiarity with equipment such as radiography rooms, C-arms, ultrasound, mammography, or comparable imaging systems.
  • Proficiency in electronic and mechanical troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Capable of diagnosing and resolving complicated equipment issues, including handling error codes and managing power, hard drive, and system diagnostics.
  • Strong computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, and networking applications.
  • Knowledgeable about medical imaging technology, calibration, radiation safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Possession of a two-year technical or electronics degree or equivalent experience in a technical capacity.
  • Preferred qualifications include biomedical equipment certification or completion of a related training or certification program.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel as required.
