Job Summary
The Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures. This position involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and comfort before, during, and after procedures, while also educating patients and their families about the interventions and care plans. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in maintaining a sterile environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver patient-centered care throughout the interventional radiology process.
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures, including obtaining medical histories and assessing vital signs.
- Assist physicians in performing various interventional procedures by providing necessary instruments and support.
- Monitor and document patient responses during and after interventions, ensuring any complications are promptly addressed.
- Educate patients and their families about procedural expectations, recovery processes, and post-care instructions.
- Maintain equipment and ensure the sterilization of the environment to uphold safety standards.
- Participate in the development and implementation of improvement initiatives in the interventional radiology unit.
Qualifications
- Current and valid nursing license as an RN.
- Experience in interventional radiology or a relevant nursing specialty is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of nursing procedures, protocols, and safety practices specific to interventional radiology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting effectively with patients and team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
