Job Summary
The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in the healthcare team, providing essential care to pregnant women during labor and postpartum recovery. This role involves not only clinical expertise but also the ability to offer emotional support to patients and their families. The RN ensures the safety and well-being of both mothers and newborns throughout the birthing process, working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess patients during labor, including fetal heart rate and maternal vital signs.
- Administer medications and interventions as prescribed and according to established protocols.
- Provide educational support to patients and families regarding childbirth and postpartum care.
- Assist in the delivery of newborns, ensuring both mother and child receive immediate care and attention.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Document all patient interactions and care provided in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state where practicing.
- Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Experience in Labor and Delivery nursing preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide compassionate patient care.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail.
