Laboratory Technician – Roofing Systems
Granville, Ohio
$25/HR The Laboratory Technician supports the residential roofing business by efficiently completing product testing that drives innovative solutions and improved product quality. This role is critical to the success of the Roofing Systems Lab and involves hands-on work with materials, tools, laboratory equipment, and computer systems. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in both lab and storage environments. Laboratory Technician Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety at all times
- Work safely in laboratory and storage settings
- Identify, report, and help correct potential hazards
- Comply with all standard safety procedures and corporate policies
Product Testing & Lab Support
- Conduct routine testing on residential roofing products such as shingles and underlayments
- Prepare product samples for testing
- Perform standardized tests according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Accurately record and maintain test results in LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) or similar databases
- Update required databases on a daily basis
- Clearly document observations and findings
- Clean, calibrate, and maintain testing equipment and workspace
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and cross-functional team members
Performance Metrics
- Active participation in site safety initiatives
- Contribution to Near Miss tracking and hazard elimination efforts
- Completion of non-routine task hazard assessments
- Consistent and safe completion of operational lab tasks
- Test deliverables meet established quality requirements and standards
Laboratory Technician Qualifications & Experience
- Associate’s degree preferred
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and equipment
- Proficiency with computers and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Previous experience in a manufacturing and/or laboratory environment preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
