Job Summary
The Lead Mammography Technologist is responsible for overseeing the mammography department’s operations, ensuring all processes meet regulatory compliance and high standards of patient care. This role involves providing expert technical support, training, and supervision for the mammography team while fostering a patient-centered environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor the team of mammography technologists to ensure high-quality imaging services.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and maintain safety protocols within the department.
- Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular quality control checks of mammography equipment and imaging protocols.
- Provide education and support to patients regarding mammography processes and imaging procedures.
- Coordinate with radiologists to ensure accurate interpretation of mammograms and resolve any technical issues.
- Assist in the training of new staff and continuing education for current personnel.
- Maintain patient records, including imaging results and related documentation, ensuring confidentiality and accurate reporting.
Qualifications
- Registered Technologist with a focus in Mammography certification through ARRT or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mammography, including leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of mammography equipment, protocols, and patient safety standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.
- Commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
