Job description
Job Summary
The Med Surg Nurse plays a critical role in providing high-quality patient care in a medical-surgical nursing unit. This position involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in collaboration with healthcare team members. The nurse will be responsible for managing patient load and ensuring adherence to best practice standards in a dynamic clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical setting.
- Conduct detailed patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on health management and post-discharge plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
- Respond to patient needs efficiently and prioritize care based on severity and acuity.
Qualifications
- Current nursing license in the respective state.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Previous experience in a medical-surgical unit is advantageous.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
