Maintenance Specialist
Aurora, OH
Pay: $40-45/hr
The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for assisting the manufacturing teams and managing maintenance operations. This role involves diagnosing and fixing electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems and equipment. The Maintenance Specialist will be tasked with maintaining and supporting PLC, HMI, and PC-based electrical control systems, along with various machinery. Additionally, this individual will execute preventative maintenance routines, engage in design and construction projects, and handle minor project work.
Responsibilities of the Maintenance Specialist:
- Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing machinery, extrusion lines, facility systems, and electrical distribution systems to ensure maximum productivity and uptime.
- Diagnose and repair issues related to electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor systems, PLCs, HMIs, PC-based controls, and AC/DC drives.
- Program, adjust, install, and assist in PLC hardware, software, and automated control systems, coordinating with external vendors as required.
- Design, troubleshoot, and adjust electrical control circuits, which include both standard and safety circuits.
- Inspect, test, and confirm equipment functionality following repairs to ensure safe and reliable operations.
- Engage in basic fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly to repair or produce replacement components as needed.
- Leverage the CMMS system for managing work orders, documenting maintenance tasks, tracking labor, and recording the usage of parts.
- Conduct root cause analysis, update equipment documentation, and implement corrective actions aimed at enhancing equipment reliability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, including 5S initiatives, shift transitions, and collaboration with production and maintenance teams.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and policies, maintain personal tools, be available for overtime when necessary, and perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications for the Maintenance Specialist:
- A minimum of 10 years of industrial maintenance experience, or an Associate’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or completion of a state-approved apprenticeship program.
- Certification in Allen-Bradley PLC, HMI, and AC/DC drive training.
- Familiarity with NEC, OSHA, and EPA standards.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70B & 70E.
- Experience with MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
- Understanding of plastic compounding technology.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 55 lbs.
