Maintenance Specialist
Aurora, OH
Pay: $40-45/hr

The Maintenance Specialist plays a pivotal role in enhancing the support provided to manufacturing teams and maintenance operations. This position involves diagnosing and rectifying issues with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems and equipment. The specialist will be responsible for maintaining PLC, HMI, and PC-based electrical control systems, machinery, and related equipment. Additionally, the role entails executing preventive maintenance, participating in design and construction tasks, and engaging in minor project work.

Key Responsibilities for the Maintenance Specialist:

  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing machinery, extrusion lines, facility systems, and electrical distribution systems to optimize uptime and efficiency.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, conveyors, PLC, HMI, PC-based systems, AC/DC drives, and machine controls.
  • Program, modify, install, and maintain PLC hardware, software, and automated systems, coordinating with external vendors as needed.
  • Design, troubleshoot, and enhance electrical control circuits, including standard safety circuits.
  • Assess, test, and confirm equipment performance post-repair to guarantee safe and dependable functionality.
  • Carry out basic fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly to repair or create replacement components as needed.
  • Utilize the CMMS system to track work orders, document maintenance actions, monitor labor, and log parts usage.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis, update equipment documentation, and implement solutions to enhance equipment reliability.
  • Engage in continuous improvement efforts, including 5S practices, effective shift transitions, and collaboration between production and maintenance teams.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and policies, maintain personal tools, work overtime when required, and perform additional duties as directed.

Qualifications for the Maintenance Specialist:

  • Minimum of 10 years in industrial maintenance or an Associate’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Industrial Maintenance from a recognized apprenticeship program.
  • Certification in Allen-Bradley PLC, HMI, and AC/DC drive training courses.
  • Familiarity with NEC, OSHA, and EPA standards.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70B & 70E protocols.
  • Experience in MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
  • Understanding of plastic compounding technology.
  • Ability to lift 55 lbs.
