Maintenance Supervisor

Competitive Pay & Benefits The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all equipment and facilities within their assigned area. This role leads maintenance personnel, oversees daily maintenance activities, and drives continuous improvement in equipment reliability, preventative maintenance, and workforce productivity.
As a member of the plant’s maintenance leadership team, the Maintenance Supervisor uses performance metrics, planning processes, and reliability tools to improve asset performance, eliminate waste, and support the Fort Smith plant’s operational goals. Maintenance Supervisor Responsibilities
- Lead and promote a Zero Accidents safety culture, ensuring all maintenance activities prioritize employee and plant safety.
- Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance technicians to strengthen technical skills, engagement, and accountability.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate all maintenance activities to maximize uptime and ensure effective labor utilization.
- Review completed maintenance work for quality, accuracy, and proper documentation.
- Ensure preventative maintenance programs are effective and continuously improved; actively support TPM initiatives.
- Maintain equipment files, BOMs, drawings, and documentation accuracy within the CMMS (SAP preferred).
- Manage maintenance backlog, schedule compliance, labor utilization, and cost control.
- Lead daily maintenance meetings and participate in cross-functional plant meetings and special projects.
- Effectively plan and execute extended shutdowns, outages, and major repairs, including coordination with contractors and other departments.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Storeroom teams to ensure materials availability, kitting, and efficient work execution.
- Support root cause analysis efforts and implement permanent corrective actions, including new PMs and design improvements.
- Develop detailed job plans including labor estimates, materials, tools, safety considerations, and sequencing.
- Hold maintenance staff accountable for 5S, KPIs, audits, and standard work compliance.
- Support budget development, cost tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintenance Supervisor Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance Technology, or related field OR 5+ years of industrial maintenance leadership experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with electrical troubleshooting capability preferred.
- Experience using a CMMS (SAP preferred).
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong planning, problem-solving, and continuous improvement mindset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer systems.
- Ability to train, coach, and speak effectively in group settings.
Maintenance Supervisor Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering or Maintenance Technology degree.
- Prior experience in maintenance planning, reliability, or supervision.
- Knowledge of TPM and preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
- Familiarity with PLC-based controls and HMI systems (Siemens and Allen-Bradley).
Maintenance Supervisor Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI standards.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience using precision measurement and maintenance tools.
Maintenance Supervisor Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and noisy industrial environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, and work extended hours as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs independently; heavier loads with assistance.
- Ability to use PPE, computers, and maintenance equipment.
- Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and vision adequate for industrial maintenance tasks.
