Job description
Manufacturing Engineer
Akron, OH
105k to 120k We are hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to build, scale, and own manufacturing from day one. This is a highly hands-on role supporting the design, prototype, and production of advanced marine platforms in a fast-moving startup environment. You will work directly with design, R&D, and shop teams to turn concepts into repeatable builds. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, prefers the shop floor over the desk, and wants direct accountability for how products get built. Responsibilities:

- Define and document assembly processes, work instructions, and SOPs
- Support prototype and pilot builds; help scale to production
- Be embedded on the shop floor, troubleshooting builds in real time
- Partner closely with design and R&D to improve designs for cost, speed, and repeatability
- Drive continuous improvement across fabrication, assembly, and test
- Help establish manufacturing standards where none yet exist
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or similar is preferred but not required
- Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor)
- Comfortable wearing multiple hats in an early-stage environment
- Strong documentation skills and process discipline
- Clear communicator who works well across engineering and operations
Nice to Have
- Hands-on exposure to fabrication, welding, or assembly environments
- Familiarity with automation, controls, or additive manufacturing
- Opportunity to grow with the company as manufacturing matures
- Fast decision-making, minimal bureaucracy, real impact
