Job description
Job Summary
The Med Surg RN will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical unit. This position requires a dedicated professional to deliver high-quality patient care, ensuring safety and comfort during their hospital stay.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients’ conditions regularly to identify changes in health and respond appropriately.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to protocols and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
- Document patient care activities and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with hospital policies.
- Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families during challenging times.
- Participate in staff training and development activities to enhance nursing practices and patient care standards.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Prior experience in a medical-surgical nursing environment is highly desirable.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification may be necessary.
