Medical Assistant 
Orlando, FL

8am-5pm (M-F)
$20.50/HR

The Medical Assistant 2 acts as the initial contact for patient care, carrying out both clinical and administrative duties. This position encompasses moderately complex operational and customer support responsibilities, often handled with minimal supervision in semi-routine tasks. The Medical Assistant 2 is expected to understand departmental policies, adhere to established protocols, and exercise judgment as necessary.

Responsibilities of the Medical Assistant 2:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Engage with patients to gather and input their symptoms into the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
  • Measure vital signs and execute diagnostic tests
  • Administer injections and obtain specimens
  • Perform blood draws and carry out phlebotomy tasks
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical equipment
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, organized, and ready for patient use
  • Deliver direct patient care in accordance with active certification
  • Work collaboratively with Physicians and Nurses within the clinical environment

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Conduct calculations and data entry
  • Oversee documentation and patient files
  • Assist with semi-routine administrative tasks
  • Organize and prioritize tasks while meeting established quality benchmarks and deadlines
  • Adhere to standard procedures, making judgments when necessary

Qualifications Required for Medical Assistant 2:

  • 1–3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a back-office patient care context
  • Valid State licensure (RMA/CMA) in relevant field
  • Current CPR certification
  • Proficient in phlebotomy techniques
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish (REQUIRED)
  • Less than 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Compliance with Tuberculosis (TB) screening program
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Experience in high-volume or fast-paced clinical settings
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Outlook
  • Commitment to enhancing patient experiences and outcomes

Preferred Qualifications for Medical Assistant 2:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Understanding of HEDIS measures and reporting
  • Active Medical Assistant Certification or Registration from one of the following:
    • American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
    • National Healthcareer Association
    • American Registry of Medical Assistants
    • National Association for Health Professionals
    • American Medical Technologists
    • Radiologic Technologist License (AART)
