Medical Scribe
Location: Melbourne, FL 32901; On-site
Schedule: Full Time, M-F 7:30 am – 4:00 pm
Contract: 12 weeks
Pay: $20.50/hr

Job Summary: 

The primary role of the Medical Scribe is to collaborate with the clinical care team in documenting a patient’s electronic medical record. The Medical Scribe will also assist in facilitating patient care. Scribes may physically interact with patients and their families under the direction of a Care Team Member.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

•  High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved Medical Terminology Course

Experience:

• 6+ Months of Scribe experience

Certifications:

•  American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Heartsaver (CPR AED) required upon hire and maintained OR
• AHA HeartCode BLS for Healthcare providers accepted instead of Heartsaver certification

Key Responsibilities:

• Accompanies members of the care team during patient interviews and examinations.
• Documents in the electronic medical record elements delegated by the care team, including but not limited to patient history, examination, or ongoing care.
• Documents the correct time of patient care-related activities such as assessments, vital signs, or interventions.
• Provides comfort aids such as pillows, blankets, and fluids upon patient request if approved by the care team.
• Assists in the acquisition of supplies as directed by the care team.
• Provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs, expectations, age, cultural and individual differences.
• Demonstrates effective communication with other members of the health care team and promotes effective team functioning.
• Responds to patients’ call lights.
• Stocks patient rooms with gloves and stocks PPE cabinets.
• Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates dependability, reliability, and flexibility.
