Only candidates with demonstrable experience in hospital-based OR scheduling and familiarity with Cerner will be considered for this position.
Role Summary
The OR Scheduler plays a pivotal role in managing the coordination and scheduling of surgical operations within a hospital’s operating room. This position serves as a vital link among surgeons, clinical teams, and patients, ensuring efficient surgical workflows and delivering exceptional patient care.
Primary Duties
- Arrange and schedule surgical procedures in a hospital operating room environment
- Engage with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing personnel, and other relevant departments to secure necessary resources
- Confirm procedure specifics, equipment needs, and all essential case documentation
- Keep precise scheduling records within the electronic medical records (EMR) system
- Relay updates, modifications, and confirmations to all involved parties
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, regulatory guidelines, and scheduled procedures
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of scheduling experience specifically in a hospital-based OR environment (note: surgery center experience is not considered equivalent)
- High School Diploma is a must
- Proficiency in using Cerner is necessary
- Solid understanding of medical terminology
- Capability to work autonomously while handling multiple tasks effectively
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
