Job Summary
The Surgery RN is a vital member of the healthcare team, specializing in the care of patients undergoing surgical procedures related to vascular, neuro, orthopedic, and trauma cases. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of surgical practices and a commitment to providing exemplary patient care before, during, and after surgical interventions. The Surgery RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and maintain a high standard of clinical care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough preoperative assessments and prepare patients for surgery.
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in the operating room setting.
- Monitor patient vitals and manage anesthesia as necessary during procedures.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and ensuring a sterile environment.
- Participate in postoperative care, educating patients on recovery processes and follow-up care.
- Document all nursing care and patient information accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including surgeons and anesthetists, to promote coordinated care.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
- Experience in surgical nursing with a focus on vascular, neuro, orthopedic, or trauma cases is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and protocols.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions.
